Musical Instruments!

Happy Tuesday, 4K Families! 

We started out our day by brainstorming a list of different signs of spring. It was incredible to hear some of the responses they came up with.

Then we read the book, Wake Up, It's Spring!. This book was about different animals that were so excited to wake up because it was spring! 

Our afternoon friends also sang the song "Did You Ever See a Sunshine?" with letters! 

Next the children had centers. They will rotate to a new center every day. Ask your child which center he/she visited today. 

At the first center, the children listened to the story, It Looked Like Spilt Milk. Then each child folded a blue piece of paper in half and spooned some white paint into the crease. Then the children folded the paper and rubbed it. When the paper was opened, that had a neat design. Each child helped write what his/her cloud looked like. 

At the second center, the children did some wind experiments. Each child tried to blow different objects across the table. They recorded which objects they could blow and which objects they could not blow. They had lots of fun experimenting! The afternoon students also made their alphabet book page. They glued umbrellas onto their Uu's. 

At the third center, the children played a game that worked on identifying the beginning sounds of words.

Then it was playtime!

After snack, the children played a SMART Board game. They had to help find Uncle Ugbee under an umbrella. This reinforced our new letter Uu that we learned and also worked on identifying other letters. 

We ended our day by listening to music and playing instruments. The children loved it! We worked on self-regulation, which is an important skill. The children had to listen carefully and stop playing their instruments when the music stopped. When the music was played again, they could play their instruments again. This self-control is vital for children to learn as it will impact so many aspects of their life as they get older.
