Planting a Rainbow

Happy Thursday! Today we spent some time reviewing what we have learned about plants this week. Our story was titled Planting a Rainbow. In the story, we learned many vocabulary words, such as bulbs, seedlings, and sow. We also got to see the many different types and colors of flowers that there are.

We sang "The Parts of a Plant" song together in the morning. Everyone laughs a lot when the song goes very fast! It is tricky to keep up, but is a fun way to review the parts that a plant needs!

Today we did a large group activity. The children colored the parts of a flower and cut them out. Then they glued the flower back together again and had to help write the words to label each of the parts of a flower.

We enjoyed playtime today. The children have been working very hard on sharing and using words to solve problems during this time.

We learned a song that was a spin-off of our new nursery rhyme of "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary." The morning session also played a "What's Missing? Mary, Mary Quite Contrary" game to work on vocabulary and visual discrimination skills. The morning class also danced to song alphabet songs on the SMART Board.

In the the afternoon, we had a tornado drill. Everyone did a great job!

Both classes did the counting jar today.

I hope to see a lot of 4K faces at our family movie night tonight! The children are very excited! Since it was raining, we got to watch a little bit of the first Rio movie on the SMART Board today.
