Hello 4K Families,
Today was our final day of exploring the five senses. We started our day by reading The Listening Walk. This is a story about a little girl who went on a walk with her dad and dog. As she walked, she stayed very quiet and listened to her surroundings. Throughout the book she tells us the things that she hears. After reading the book, we tried to be very quiet and listen for different things that we could hear in our classroom.
We also made popcorn in the air popper today! Our friends used their sense of hearing, smell, sight, touch, and taste. They enjoyed this delicious popcorn for a snack!
Today your child went to his/her last center. Ask your child which center he/she attended today.
Our first center was our scented paintings. Our friends smelled different scented paints and determine which fruit picture they needed to paint. We had 4 different scents: orange, lemon, strawberry, and grape. After our pictures dried we compiled them into a book that was sent home. Ask your child to show you their book.
Our friends at the second center made their five senses headbands. As we made our book, we talked about our sense of smell, touch, sight, hearing, and taste. This silly headband was a fun way to remind us of our five senses.
Our last center was our listening center. Our friends played a listening bingo game and they also made shakers. They also got to choose what type of material they were going to put in their shaker. They could choose from noodles, rice, rocks, and beans. Their next job was to thread the yarn through their shakers.
Playtime Fun!
During our closing circle our friends danced to "The Freeze" song with their shakers. They had to freeze when the music stopped.
We also went to the media center to practice the songs for our holiday program, which is coming up soon!
We look forward to seeing some of you at conferences tonight. :)
Have a great weekend!
