Another Wonderful Wednesday in 4K!

Good evening 4K families! We had another great day in school today! We apologize for the lack of pictures, as Miss McCabe was doing PALS testing with children and there was a substitute teacher in the room.

During our opening circle today, we read the book If the Shoe Fits. This is a silly story about the nursery rhyme "There was An Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe." In this story the old woman wanted to find a new home for her children. She tried out homes from different nursery rhymes. This was a great way to review some of the nursery rhymes that we have already learned. The children loved being able to figure out which nursery rhyme home the old woman wanted to try out next.

Our 4K friends visited another center today. Ask your child which center he/she went to today.

At the first center, the children completed a family journal page. We reviewed “Mat Man” to help us remember how to draw all of the body parts needed on our journal page. Each child drew a picture of his/her family and helped name each family member.  With assistance, the children labeled each family member in their picture.

The children at the second center had two jobs. Their first job was to decorate a person to look like him/herself. Then each child completed the sentence: “I’m a good friend when I . . . " Afterwards, the children worked on their Hh page for their alphabet book. They placed different shapes on the letter Hh. They tried to turn their Hh into a house.

At the third center, the children completed a friendship dinosaur counting booklet. After reading each page, the children had to stamp the correct number of dinosaur friends onto the page. Afterwards we read the book together. If your child was at this center today, ask him/her to show you the book they made.

The  children at the last center colored our new nursery rhyme, "There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe." They also went on an Hh hunt and colored all of the Hh’s on the page. This nursery rhyme will be added to your child's nursery rhyme folder. After their nursery rhyme page was complete, we spent some time reviewing all of the nursery rhymes that we already learned.

We had lots of fun during playtime. Some of our friends had to color pig and wolf masks, because tomorrow we will be acting out The Three Little Pigs

At closing circle, some of our friends practiced drawing "Mat Man" again. We also  played a "Friendship What's Missing?" game. The children were shown a picture of two friends. We talked about all of the details in the pictures. We then looked at the same picture, except for there were pieces missing from the page. The children had to figure out what was missing from the picture.

Our Altrusa visitor had to cancel for today so she will come next week instead!

Miss McCabe will be doing some more assessments with your child tomorrow; please make sure that he/she gets plenty of rest tonight!

We had a great day & we hope you have a great night! :)
