We hope you had a great weekend! This week we will be talking a lot about giving thanks for the good things we have and of course . . . . turkeys! We will continue to focus on the letter Tt this week. A new letter will be introduced next week! Today we read the story Run, Turkey, Run! This was a silly story about a farmer that tried to catch a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Whenever the farmer tried to catch the turkey, he kept on disguising himself on the farm. He jumped in mud and pretended to be a pig and he pretended to be a duck by swimming in the pond. He ended up disguising himself as a tree in the forest and fooled the farmer. The children enjoyed listening to hear what type of disguise the turkey would try next. The morning class also had the opportunity to read a few other turkey books as well.
We listened to the song "Take a Feather" today as well. Throughout the song, the children were told to put the feather on different body parts. Each child was given a feather and did all of the actions in the song.
This week we will not be having centers, as it is a short week. Today for our large group activity, the children made name turkeys. They cut out and glued together the parts of a turkey. Then the children wrote one letter of his/her name on each of the turkey's feathers. Check out some of our turkeys below!
Playtime!
During playtime, some children finished their turkey Tt alphabet page by adding the Tt's to their feathers and then adding the finishing touches to their turkeys. Today there was a turkey bowling game out during playtime and it seemed to be a big hit!
The children helped us write our daily message. The special helper chose one favorite thing that we did today to write about. Please see the morning and afternoon's message below.
