Introducing... 4K Students in the Three Little Pigs

Happy Thursday! Today we spent some time talking about homes. We learned that there are all different types of homes. Some homes include houseboats, adobe houses, castles, houses on stilts, apartments, igloos, and so much more! We read the story of The Three Little Pigs.

Today we visited our final center for the week. Ask your child which center he/she visited today!

At the first center, we practiced drawing people while drawing a picture of our family members. Then we labeled each family member.

At the second center, we glued various shapes on the letter Hh to turn it into a house. Then we made a page for our good friend class book. We had to record something we can do to be a good friend to another.

The third center made a friendship counting booklet. It was a lot of fun to stamp the correct number of dinosaurs onto each page in the booklet! See if your child can read it to you at home!

The final center reviewed the nursery rhymes we have already learned. We went for a letter Hh hunt in the nursery rhyme of "There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe."

We had a great time playing in the classroom!

At closing circle, we used our masks that we made this week to act out the story of The Three Little Pigs. We are great actors and actresses!

In the afternoon, we even went to the gym to act out the story! We set-up the mats so we could blow the "houses" down! First, the teachers modeled how to do it. Then everyone had a turn to act out the story. Miss McCabe even took a break from testing to come help act out the story! The children voted on characters for the teachers to be and Miss McCabe was chosen as the big, bad wolf.

Three Little Pigs Play

Guess what?! Both classes have earned 5 class B.E.A.K awards so we will have a pajama day party on Monday! We earned several this week for doing such a great job for the substitute teacher and also for being respectful while the third grade class next door was taking an important test - we were so quiet during the testing time that they didn't even hear us! Way to go, 4K students! :)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's pajamas on Monday! Miss McCabe will be back in the classroom on Monday so there will be more pictures in next week's blog posts!

Remember that tonight is literacy night at school.  I am hoping to see many 4K families tonight.
