We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This is a favorite story of the 4K classes! In the morning, Abby read the story to the class. Way to go, Abby! :)
Today we did a large group project. We made a booklet about the life cycle of a butterfly. The children had to help number each page in the booklet. We worked on concepts of print while reading each page in the booklet. Then the children had to create the illustrations to match the words on the page. To work on fine motor skills, we did a lot of cutting and gluing. The children even got to use a hole punch to punch holes in a leaf to look like a caterpillar took some bites out of the leaf! On the last page, the children were able to cut out the beautiful butterfly they made at centers earlier this week using coffee filters. Please take some time to read the booklet with your child at home tonight!
We also enjoyed playing and working on a developing our social skills. During playtime, some children continued to work on some top-secret surprises.
We celebrate a special birthday in the morning session. Happy birthday, Ethan! Thank you for the delicious treats!
After snack, we continued to work on making some special, secret surprises for our moms. We cannot wait to show you! :)
In the afternoon, we read some of Audrie's special books about caterpillars and butterflies. Thank you for sharing, Audrie!
Next week we will begin learning about the farm in preparation for our field trip to "The Farm." Don't forget to send in a fresh vegetable on Monday. We will be using the vegetables for various activities all week!
Have a great weekend! :)
