We're Not Afraid of Anything!

Happy Halloween! We had a fun day in 4K today! Our story today was The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. In the story, an old lady went for a walk. A pair of shoes came and went "Clomp, Clomp." She said she wasn't scared. Along came several other items that tried to scare the old lady. Each item that came along had a special action! We enjoyed helping with the story by doing each action! Finally she made it home when there was a knock on the door. All the items tried to scare her! The pumpkin head became sad when she said she wasn't scared. The old lady had an idea that made the pumpkin head happy again. Ask your child what her idea was!

We spent some time talking about what scares us and what our faces look like when we are scared. We also talked about the emotions of being happy and sad.

Today we did a large group project. We practiced retelling the story while making our very own scarecrows, just like in the story! After making the scarecrows, we found a friend and practiced telling one another the story. See if your child can tell you the story at home using the scarecrow project!

If your child is struggling with this, click below to listen to the story. Then spend some time each night after you read to your child by having your child practice retelling the story that was just read. This is an important skill for your child to have!

We spent some time playing in the classroom.

Then it was time for our special treats! They were delicious! Thank you to everyone who sent in an item for our classroom party! We enjoyed everything tremendously!

In the morning, we spent some time revisiting some of our favorite Halloween stories and songs, such as Big Pumpkin and "Spooky Walk." In the afternoon, we played spider web bingo and also found time to do "Spooky Walk" one last time!

Since it was very wet outside, we got to watch a special Halloween movie on the SMART Board!

Remember that Monday is hat day! We are looking forward to seeing everyone's silly hats!
