We also learned an apple song to the tune of "Bingo." It was a lot of fun clapping when Miss McCabe took away a letter. This was an introduction to some of the letters we will be focusing on this month, such as the Ll and Pp.
In the morning session, a friend brought a special book for us to read! When Miss McCabe sat down to read the story, she told Miss McCabe that she could read it all by herself! Great job, Abby! We are so proud of you and enjoyed listening to your story! Click here to listen to her read!
The first center made apple name trees.
The second center used their strong fine motor skills to tear paper to make a torn paper apple to display outside the 4K classroom.
The third center played Hi, Ho, Apple-O and worked on counting skills.
The fourth center used the balance scales to see which items weigh more or less than an apple.
We spent time playing. The children are especially enjoying playing with the corn and balance scales in the sensory table. Our fall apple market in the dramatic play area was also popular.
In the morning, we even tried applesauce for snack!
After a delicious snack, we spent some time focusing on the number zero. We read some stories about the number zero. Then we did some shared writing where we made a list of items that we have zero (none) of in our classroom.
Then it was time to go outside to play!
We have had a change of plans for tomorrow and will be going on a walk in the woods instead of our planned activities. Please make sure to send your child to school with weather-appropriate clothing and good walking shoes tomorrow. We are going to spend some time exploring the signs of fall in the school forest!
