Picture Day . . . Say Cheese!

Happy Wednesday, 4K Families! We had a silly mixed-up schedule today because of picture day. Our friends were very excited to get their picture taken. We started out our day by arranging our friends from tallest to shortest for our class picture. This was hard work for us, but we did it! We all smiled and took some beautiful pictures! We can't wait for you to see them! Your child's picture order form should be in his/her folder.

After pictures, we had centers! Today each child had an opportunity to visit one center! Ask your child which center he/she visited!

The children at the first center read the story Brown Leaf, Brown Leaf. They talked about all of the different fall leaf colors. After reading this book, we made our own leaf book about colors. Ask your child to read his/her book to you when they get home. This is a great way to review colors in a fun way!

At the second center, the children worked on counting and number recognition. Every child had a tree with the numbers 1, 2, and 3 all over it. The children rolled a die and counted the number of dots. Next they had to find the corresponding number and dot it with a bingo blotter. Once we were finished, we had a beautiful fall tree!

The children at the third center had two projects to do today. Their first project was to make a letter Ll page for their alphabet books. The children did some leaf rubbings for their Ll page. When they were finished, they used eye droppers to drop fall colored water paints on a coffee filters with a leaf on them. We had lots of fun watching all of the colors mix together! Once they were dry, we cut the leaf out.

We had to do a lot of waiting in line for picture day. The children were very excited to get their wiggles out during playtime.

Our morning friends got to eat snack in a new spot today . . . the cafeteria!

Today our afternoon friends had time to read Leaf Man. Our friends from the morning session started creating their leaf people and leaf animals using the leaves collected from our walk in the woods. Our afternoon friends will have an opportunity to make their leaf people and animals tomorrow, if they'd like.

Remember that tomorrow is book check-out! Please make sure that your child's book and nursery rhyme notebook are returned in the laminated folder each week.

Have a great evening!
