We had kind of a silly day today. The first part of our day was spent practicing for the holiday concert. Today the children were very excited because we got to practice in the auditorium! Our friends are very anxious for the big performance tomorrow!
After we got back from the auditorium, the children made their woolly white winter Ww alphabet book page. The children unrolled cotton balls and glued them on the big and little Ww. They also added a few snowflakes to their page.
Our friends also completed a letter for Santa of items they would like for Christmas. Some children cut pictures out of magazines and glued the pictures on their paper before signing their name. Others glued clip art pictures onto their letter and then colored the pictures. Yet others drew their own pictures. Each child chose how he/she would like to make his/her letter. Our elf will take the special letters to Santa tonight when he visits the North Pole to tell Santa all about our day at school.
During playtime the children enjoyed wrapping Christmas presents in the sensory table. We discovered that wrapping is not as easy as it looks! They also liked playing in our dramatic play area, which was transformed into Santa's workshop. With all the smiles on their faces as they gave gifts to their friends, we realized that it is better to give than to receive! :)
The children read the story Mrs. Wishy Washy's Christmas. In this story, Mrs. Wishy Washy told the farm animals that they must take a bath otherwise they will not get presents for Christmas. Instead of taking a bath in the cold tin tub, they decided to sneak inside Mrs. Wishy Washy's house while she was away. Ask your child if Mrs. Wishy Washy let them have their presents!
We finished our day by learning about our new letter Ww! We read a few books about Ww and said "hi" to Woolly White Ww by making the /w/ sound and tracing the w.
Today Jingle left us a message . . . .
Just a few reminders for tomorrow night:
- Your child is encouraged to dress nicely.
- Please have your child to school no later than 5:30 - We need time to get lined up, warm up our voices, and pass out props for the first song! It is critical that your child arrives on time!
- Please remind your child that he/she will need to say "bye" to you when you drop him/her off so you can get good seats!
- Remember your cameras!
