Today all of our friends were a little tired today after our busy night of singing! We started out our day by sequencing rectangles to make a tree. The children had to put the rectangles in order from longest to shortest. They even topped their tree with a star! While the children made their trees we talked about our shape of the month . . . rectangle.
Miss McCabe's morning friends had some visitors in their classroom. Mrs. Severson's second graders came in and read the story 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and other Christmas stories. The 4K students loved having the "big kids" in their room!
Today Jingle, our classroom elf, brought Pete the Cat to our classroom! We read the story Pete the Cat Saves Christmas. In this story Santa gets sick and is not able to deliver presents to all of the children. Pete saves the day and helps out. He's not sure if he can do it, but he tries and ends up doing a great job! The message of the story is to "always give it your best." In the afternoon, the children wanted to hear the story over and over again so of course we had to read it more than once! After we read the story, our friends make a Pete the Cat Santa. As we made them, we talked about the different shapes that make up the cat. Please review shapes together over the break. Since we have moved onto more challenging concepts, some of the children are regressing with their shape recognition.
After snack, the children shared their snow friends that they created at home. We had some very creative snow friends! We had snow babies, snow moms, snow hot chocolates, snow princesses, and the list goes on!
Our friends are very excited for our Holiday Party tomorrow!
