We continued to learn our daily routines. One routine the children remembered how to do was our sign-in. Each child got to sign-in by writing their names.
After sign-in, the children went to the carpet for our circle time. We reviewed how to sit "criss-cross applesauce." Many of the children remembered how to sit in this silly way. We then read a story about some silly animals that wanted to ride the bus! As each animal got on the bus, they made different sounds. The story was written to the song "The Wheels on the Bus." The children enjoyed making the animal noises as we sang the story together. As we were reading, we came across a viper. We learned that a viper is a type of snake.
We did a large group project again today. The children made another school bus! After cutting out their bus and wheels, they had to cut out all of the animals from the story "The Seals on the Bus." We then sequenced the animals in the order that they went on the bus. They did a great job remembering! They brought their buses home so they can retell the story to their family. Ask your child to tell you what sound each of the animals makes.
We had a lot of fun during playtime! The children enjoyed exploring the room and finding new toys to play with. During playtime, individual children were assessed to see how well they could write their name and cut out shapes. These assessments will be shared during parent-teacher conferences so that you will be able to see the growth that your child has made since the first week of school.
After playtime, we had a special snack. We made school buses out of graham crackers! The children worked on some fine motor skills by spreading yellow frosting on their cracker to make it look like a yellow school bus. Then they added wheels. They finished their tasty treat by adding animals to their bus, just like the bus in our story. They were very delicious!
One of the songs the children in the morning session learned was "Animal Action." The children enjoyed acting like the animals in the song! See if your child can tell you some of the animals from the song tonight! Unfortunately, the afternoon session did not have time for this song. Hopefully we can fit it in tomorrow or next week!
Our friends had a great end of the day by running around and playing outside! We can't wait to see you all tomorrow for another fun day in 4K! :)
