Rocking In Our School Shoes!

Today was another great day in 4K!  It is hard to believe that we have now been at school for 3 days!  Everyone is doing a wonderful job at school!

During circle time, we met Pete the Cat!  He is a new favorite in our classroom!  We read and sang two Pete the Cat stories today.  In the first story, Pete the Cat kept stepping in piles of different items.  Each item changed the color of his shoes, but Pete didn't worry about it.  It is all good! This is a good story for sequencing and color recognition.

The second story was about Pete the Cat rocking in his new school shoes.  In this story, Pete the Cat visits different parts of a school, such as the cafeteria and playground.  We realized that we visit many of the same places as Pete!  If you are interested in the books, you can order them through the Scholastic book orders.  Each order will help us earn free books for our classroom!  We may even be able to get a few extra copies of Pete the Cat for our library as the children have been arguing over who gets to look at the Pete the Cat books each day!  Pete the Cat sure is popular!

In the afternoon, a new friend joined us.  We spent some time learning about our new friend!  Welcome to our classroom!

Today we spent some time drawing self-portraits for our portfolios.  We will do a self-portrait sample each trimester so you can see your child's growth throughout the year!  The self-portraits will be shared at parent-teacher conferences.

We also made special snack mats today.  After they are laminated, we will use them to count out our snack each day using one-to-one correspondence.  It is a fun way to work on those important math skills without even realizing it!

It was time to play after working so hard!  We love playing!

We talked about what we liked best at school!  Miss McCabe expected everyone to say that playing is their favorite thing at school, but there were many other answers, such as reading books, singing, dancing, eating snack, and making art projects.  One child even said "everything" in response to what he liked best about school!  I'm so happy to hear that everyone is enjoying 4K! :)

After snack, we did some songs and enjoyed some time playing outside in the fresh air!

Have a great weekend!
