Hello, 4K Families!
Today we had a substitute teacher in the room. Therefore, no pictures were taken of today's activities. Below are some of the activities that the children participated in today.
During opening circle, the children listened to two different versions of the book, The Big Wide-Mouthed Frog. After reading them both, they compared them and talked about the similarities and differences in the books.
Then they had centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited today!
At the first center, the children read the book Splash!. After reading, there were large lily pads and pond animals around the classroom. The children had to hop around the lily pads like a frog and collect the pond animals. After collecting them all, we graphed the number of each animal. We talked about how many there are of each and which has more or less. They loved being able to hop around like frogs!
At the second center, the children painted a green and gold glitter Gg for his/her alphabet book page. After completing their Gg page, the children played a lily pad letter memory game. The children took turns flipping over two lily pads, trying to match uppercase letters with lowercase letters.
At the third center, the children made suncatcher turtles. Each child cut out a shell shape from wax paper. He/she painted on watered down glue and then added tissue paper of different shades of green and brown. Finally, each child cut out a head, four legs, and a tail to attach to the shell. They had lots of fun making their turtle shell!
After centers, the children had playtime!
During closing circle, the children sang the song “There Was a
Frog That Swallowed A . . ." The children created their own prop to go along with this song. Ask your child to sing this song to you at home using his/her prop.
After singing, the children sorted animals that live in a pond from animals that live in the ocean.
We have missed the children this week and can't wait to see them tomorrow! :)
Have a great night!
