We started out our day by drawing what we like to eat for snack. Yesterday the children learned that frogs like to eat flies and other bugs. Today we wrote about what we like to eat! Several children are beginning to stretch words and write independently. I am so happy to see that!
Today we spent some time talking about the life cycle of a frog. Our story today was The Teeny Weeny Tadpole. In the story, we got to see the life cycle of a frog from the moment a tadpole hatched out of an egg until it turned into an adult frog. See if your child can tell you the life cycle of the frog.
We also learned the song "Five Green and Speckled Frogs." Check your child's folder for some activities to do together to go along with the song!
Today we did a large group project to work on following directions and developing our listening skills. We made shape speckled frogs. This project also allowed us to review our shapes and develop our fine motor skills!
We also spent some time playing in the classroom to develop our social skills. Putting on puppet shows was in high demand in the morning.
After snack, we read the story Jump, Frog, Jump! together.
Then we got to hop like a frog. Each child got a turn to jump and we got to see what number lily pad they were able to hop to. We graphed the number we landed on using the SMART Board.
The morning session also did the counting jar today.
When we come back from spring break, we will explore more animals that can be found by the pond.
