Green Eggs and Ham

Happy Thursday! Today we had some special guest readers come in our classroom. They read us the story Green Eggs and Ham. Thank you to Abigail's mom and Vince's mom for reading us this special story!

We worked on our fine motor skills while cutting out our own pan along with some green eggs and ham. Then we had to find a pair of rhyming pictures to create our own phrase just like in the story: I would not eat it in a _____. I would not eat it with a _____.

Today we visited our last center for the week. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.

The first center read There's a Wocket in My Pocket and played rhyming bingo.

The second center made a Cat in the Hat counting and color booklet. We have been practicing writing our numbers and concepts of print. When the booklet comes home, have your child read it to you!

The third center played a Cat in the Hat roll and color number game. Each child was given a different set of numbers to use for the game based upon numbers that each child needs to work on. When the sheet comes home, spend some time reviewing the numbers with your child.

Then we spent some time playing in the classroom. Painting has been popular this week.

For snack, we made our own version of green eggs and ham to eat. Yum!

In the morning session, we won 2 more Class BEAK awards and now have enough for another party! The children brainstormed ideas and then voted. The winner was a Frozen party. We will have the party after spring break since there will be a substitute teacher in the classroom most of next week.

In the morning, we also shared a few more rhyming mystery bags and did the counting jar.

In the afternoon, we had some wiggles to get out so we did some shape and number songs on the SMART Board. We love dancing!

Please remember that book orders are due on Monday. You can order books online or by sending a check to school made out to Scholastic Reading Club.

Also please note that next week the blog posts will not have pictures and will be just a quick summary of what should have happened in the classroom each day. Miss McCabe will be at school late each night next week due to the Child Development Days Screening and parent-teacher conferences. Blog posts will return to normal with pictures after spring break. Thank you for your understanding!

Have a great weekend!
