Miss McCabe's 4K Classes 2013-14: Rhyming Mystery Bags!!!

Hello 4K Families!

We started off our Wacky Wednesday by sharing our rhyming mystery bags! The children were very excited to share their rhymes. We have some very smart 4K students . . . they were able to figure out all of the mystery bags! Some of them were very tricky!

One of the morning students brought the book Wacky Wednesday to share with the class. Thanks for thinking of us on this wacky day! We enjoyed trying to find all the silly items on each page in the story.

After the mystery bags, the children went to centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.

At the first center, the children played a rhyming bingo game. First they listened the the story There’s a Wocket in My Pocket. Then they played a rhyming bingo game by covering up pictures that rhyme with the word the teacher said. The game continued until all of the pictures were covered.

The children at the second center completed a Cat in the Hat Counting Booklet. Each child counted the hats on each page. Then they recorded the number and colored the hats in the correct color. This booklet covered many of the skills that we've been working on. Please read this book with your child at home.

At the last center, the children played a Cat in the Hat Roll & Color Number Game. Each child rolled a die, identified the number they rolled, and colored the hat with the corresponding color. After completing this activity, the children answered questions about which color there is the most of, least of, etc.

Then it was playtime! Some children were given the opportunity to paint a Pete the Cat mural during playtime.

During closing circle, our Altrusa visitor came to read us the story of The Napping House. Each child got their own copy of the book to keep so that they can share it with their families!
