Today we read the story How Do I Love You? This book was about a crocodile mommy who loved her baby crocodile in so many ways. She told us all of the different ways that she loved her baby.
We also played a Valentine Number Squeeze game. This game was sent home with your child. Please consider playing this game at home to help your child practice the concept of numbers that are bigger and/or smaller.
This week we will have centers on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday will be our special Valentine's Day party. Ask your child which center he/she went to today.
At the first center, the children created a rhyming booklet by gluing the correct items on each page. This booklet will be sent home with your child. Please read it together at home!
The children at the second center played a heart counting game using playdough. Each child drew a number and counted out the corresponding number of playdough hearts. Then a friend counted the hearts and tried to guess the "mystery number." They loved learning while playing with playdough.
At the third center, the children created a Valentine bear card for someone special. Each child cut out a bear shape and glued a heart on its' tummy and paws. Then they glued on a note and signed it.
The children were very busy during playtime. Some of the children started to pass out their valentines today!
In the morning, one of our 4K friends brought a Valentine book for us to read. Thanks for sharing!
We also were able to fit in the counting jar in the morning. We counted chocolates. The children were very excited to count the candy after giving their guesses. They even got to take some home with them. We used our problem-solving skills to help us figure out how much each child could have.
During snack we got to enjoy some tarts. It was nice for the children to experience what tarts are rather than just being told! Now they can relate to our nursery rhyme this month a little better! They were delicious! Thank you to the families who donated them to our class!

At the end of the day, the children learned about a new letter . . . Vv! The children read a few Vv books and created their Vv alphabet book page by gluing hearts on it.
Tomorrow there will be a substitute teacher in the classroom for Miss McCabe.

* Please consider sending your child's valentines to school tomorrow. We would like to continue to pass a few out everyday, as it is very time-consuming and will take time out of our Valentine party on Thursday if we have too many to pass out that day. Please also remember that we prefer you not have your child write who each valentine is to. Instead, just write who it is from. This will make handing out the valentines much easier and more efficient. Thanks!
