Today was kind of a silly, fun-filled day! We took a break from centers today, but will finish them up tomorrow.
We had an exciting visit from a dental hygienist from Midwest Dental today! She taught ways that we can keep our teeth clean. She showed us what x-rays look like. We also talked about foods that are good for our teeth and not so good for our teeth. The children were very excited when some of their classmates got to turn into a dentist and teeth. All of the "teeth" stood close together. There were pieces of food that got stuck in between their teeth after they ate. The dentist had to brush and floss the teeth to make them clean again. They had so much fun watching this activity unfold. They were also very excited when they received a special bag with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
We also had a special visitor come from Altrusa today. Our visitor read us the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. The children were very excited when they each received a book to add to their book collection at home.
Playtime Fun! Some of our friends created their Valentine pouch or bag.
Our morning friends did the counting jar. We reviewed that two groups of ten plus five more equals 25.
Today we read the book Just Going to the Dentist. This book taught us about different things that happen at the dentist.
One of our morning friends brought in a book for us to read together! We also read the book Tooth Trouble!
We also played a tooth fairy counting game. All of the children pretended to put a tooth under their pillow. When they woke up, they were given a certain number of pennies for their tooth. The children counted how many pennies they were given. Then they had to circle the correct number of pennies shown. In the first week of 5K, your child will be asked to do activities very similar to this. We are exposing them to this now so that it can be familiar to them when they get to 5K. This is also a fun way to reinforce these math skills at home!
We had another great day! :)
