Teddy Bear Day!

Today was an exciting day! We had our teddy bear day AND tonight is our 4K movie night! The children were very excited!

Our teddy bears played a role in our entire day at school! They helped us with sign-in and journaling. This week we journaled about what we would dream about all winter long if we were a hibernating bear.

Our teddy bears came to circle time with us. They helped us act out the nursery rhyme "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear." The teddy bears also listened to the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?. We also listened to the song.

Each child got a chance to introduce his/her teddy bear to the other children in the class.

We sorted our bears by size on the carpet in the morning. Most bears were medium in size.

Then we visited centers. The morning session visited the final center for the week. Since the afternoon session did not have school on Tuesday, we slightly revised centers so that all children completed the self-portrait assessment. Then they either completed the brown bear Bb alphabet book page and "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear" nursery rhyme page or went on a bear letter hunt. The bear board game was given as an option during play time for those who wanted to play the game.

After centers, we spent some time playing and working on developing important social skills. We enjoyed playing with our teddy bears!

Then we got ready for our teddy bear picnic. We had to get into our teddy bear disguises for the picnic by wearing the headbands we had made on Monday. Then we chose a tablecloth to sit around on the floor. For our snack, we tasted chocolate chip and honey teddy grahams. Then we graphed which flavor of teddy graham we liked the best.

For closing circle, we played a bear rhyming game on the SMART Board. Check your child's folder for a copy of the game to play at home!

The afternoon session also spent some time learning about other animals besides bears that hibernate in winter. Ask your child if he/she can name another animal that hibernates in winter!

I hope to see you at the 4K family movie night tonight! Even if a movie slip was not returned, everyone is still welcome to attend! You may want to consider arriving early to make sure you have plenty of time to get your popcorn and beverage, as well as good seats before the movie starts. We are also hoping to take a group picture after the movie!

Please also make sure that your child's snow pants are labeled. We have had some snow pant mix-ups and it makes it easier if there is a name inside. Thank you for your help!

Have a great evening!
