Bears, Bears, Bears!

Happy Monday, 4K Families!

This week our focus will be on bears and other animals that hibernate. We started off our day by reading the story We're Going on a Bear Hunt. We also listened to the song "We're Going on a Bear Hunt." The children loved this song and all of the actions that go with it! After listening to it, we made comparisons between the song and book.

We reviewed Mat Man to remind children the different parts that we must remember to add when we are drawing people.

This week we will visit centers again. The children will visit one center each day (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) in a rotation.

At the first center, the children went on a letter bear hunt.  They searched around the room for bears and traced the letter on a recording sheet when they found it. The children at this center were also asked to do a self-portrait and other individual assessments with Miss McCabe.

The children at the second center made a bear Bb page for their alphabet book page. Then each child completed a nursery rhyme page to add to his/her nursery rhyme notebook. Our nursery rhyme is "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear."

At the last center, the children played a bear board game. Each child rolled the dice and moved his/her bear the correct number of spaces, collecting food along the way to get to the cave and hibernate.

Playtime Fun! The children enjoyed pretending to hibernate in our bear cave. Other children had fun playing with the beans and balance scales in our sensory table. The children kept very busy during playtime!

During our closing circle, the children were introduced to our new letter of the week, Bb. The children went on a letter Bb hunt. We also met blue button b and practiced making the /b/ sound while tracing over our new letter friend.

We also made bear headbands to wear for our special teddy bear day on Thursday.

Please remember to send back the 4K Family Movie Night sheets tomorrow. We need to let the theater know how many to expect and the types of beverages everyone would like so that there is not a long wait in line! Thank you for your cooperation! It should be a fun evening!

Have a great evening! :)
