In the morning session, we also read a special book about bears that Troy brought from home for us to read. In the afternoon session, we did the counting jar. There was a special treat in the jar that we got to enjoy with our letter j jello jiggler snack!
Today we visited our final center for the week. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center used fishing poles to catch fish to feed to their polar bears, which worked on letters, beginning sounds, and social skills. The children have been excited all week for their turn to visit this center!
The second center played a polar bear roll the number race. This game worked on number recognition. Ask your child to tell you the numbers on his/her sheet when it comes home!
The third center played an iceberg jump board game, which worked on letters, numbers, counting, and social skills.
The fourth center used their muscles to tear paper to help camouflage their polar bear cubs so that the ice foxes would not eat them!
We spent some time playing and working on our social skills. The children are enjoying being able to play in the snow inside and seeing the snow melt from the warmth in the classroom.
During snack, we cut out our letter j's from our jello to make letter j jello jigglers to eat! The children were very excited about this and could hardly wait until it was our jello jiggler snack day!
At closing circle, we reviewed what animals do in winter, which has been our focus this month. We sorted pictures of animals on the SMART Board by whether they hibernate, migrate, or adapt.
Then we went to the gym to get out all our wiggles since it has been too cold to play outside! We played a version of "Duck, Duck, Goose." Instead of saying "duck, duck, goose," we said, "fish, fish, polar bear." It was a lot of fun!
